About Us

SEND

At Fairfield First School, we strive to ensure that we provide a happy and nurturing environment, where all pupils will grow and flourish, regardless of their barriers.

We believe that working with parents and developing strong relationships with them is the key to unlocking every child's potential and helping them be the best that they can be.

If you have any concerns about your child's needs, then please do not hesitate to contact our Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Mrs Hadley: sendco@fairfield.worcs.sch.uk.

What are Special Needs or Disabilities?

Special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) can affect a child or young person’s ability to learn. They can affect their:

  • behaviour or ability to socialise,
  • reading and writing,
  • ability to understand things,
  • speech and language
  • concentration levels,
  • physical ability

A child is considered to have a learning difficulty if he or she has a significantly greater difficulty with learning than the majority of others of the same age, or has a disability which prevents or hinders them from making use of facilities of a kind generally provided for others of the same age in mainstream schools.

A significant number of children may need special educational provision at some time during their school lives. For some children, the provision may last for only a short period of time. However, for other children, the provision may last longer.

Support Your Child Can Receive

Your child may be eligible for:

  • SEN Support - support given in school (eg. speech and language therapy, group and one to one interventions, specialist equipment)
  • An Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) - a plan of care for children and young people aged up to 25 who have more complex needs.

For more detailed information, please take a look through our School Information Report and Policies below or contact the school via the office: office@fairfield.worcs.sch.uk
